October 19 Celebration
HARLEM, NY – October 20, 2026 – The Power of Influence Awards & NAACP Voter Registration Initiative,
held October 19 at The Victoria in Harlem, celebrated influential leaders in entertainment, fashion, entrepreneurship,
and community service while promoting civic engagement and women's empowerment.
The evening honored hip-hop pioneers Joaquin “Waah” Dean, Darrin “Dee” Dean, and Chivon Dean of Ruff
Ryders Entertainment, alongside legendary fashion designer Dapper Dan, DJ Webstar, Dr. Daniel Jenkins, and
James “C.B.” Gray, National CEO of The Hip Hop Fraternity.
NYC PUBLIC ADVOCATE CITATIONS & MAYORAL RECOGNITION
Citations from the Office of NYC Public Advocate Jumaane D. Williams recognized Dr. Daniel
Jenkins, James “C.B.” Gray, DJ Webstar, Teyana Taylor, Chivon Dean, and Rayvon for their
contributions to entertainment, culture, entrepreneurship, and community leadership. DJ Webstar accepted
Teyana Taylor's award on her behalf. Letters of recognition from the New York City Mayor's Office also
honored distinguished individuals.
NATIONAL WOMEN'S SMALL BUSINESS MONTH RECOGNITION
Special recognition celebrated Avery J. Watson, Sandra Adams (Ruff Ryders), Dr. Antoinette Jennings,
Shanny Herrera, Rhoda Simmons, Teyana Taylor (accepted by DJ Webstar), and Meli'sa Morgan for their
achievements in entrepreneurship, entertainment, leadership, and community service.
NAACP VOTER REGISTRATION INITIATIVE
The nonpartisan voter registration and civic awareness initiative, in collaboration with the NAACP
NYCHA Branch and NAACP Mid-Manhattan Branch, encouraged civic participation and community
empowerment.
