In a gritty, fast-changing Harlem, a man rises from the brink of death to confront the very choices — and people — that nearly ended him. With his heart pounding and his past haunting every step, Tyrone “Red” Jackson returns to life for one final reckoning.

This is the raw, cinematic terrain of Red Night Special: Red Rising, the second installment in director Andrew “AJ” Jackson’s thrilling, genre-blending film series that blurs the line between urban drama, psychological suspense, and street noir. A true Harlem tale, told by one of its own.

A Hustler’s Past. A Shooter’s Secret. A City Ready to Burn.

Tyrone “Red” Jackson was never supposed to survive. A Harlem hustler with a reputation as sharp as his style, Red made his name navigating the city’s shadows — until the day he took a bullet to the head from a mysterious woman named Ciara. Left for dead, Red slips into a coma. But while his body lies motionless, his mind is wide awake — trapped in a dreamlike state where his past plays on loop like an unending reel of regret.

He sees his younger self. The deals. The violence. The love he lost. The loyalty he betrayed. And the woman who pulled the trigger.

Meanwhile, Ciara, on the run and haunted by her own choices, plans her escape from New York. She turns to Cassidy, a loyal friend with ties to Harlem’s underground network. What Ciara doesn’t know is that Red is alive — and his crew is already hunting her down. The city becomes a pressure cooker of secrets, betrayal, and revenge as both sides close in for what promises to be an explosive final act.

When Red finally regains consciousness, there’s only one thing on his mind: finding Ciara. Not for closure. Not for redemption. For the kind of confrontation that only two people bound by pain can understand.

Director’s Chair: Andrew “AJ” Jackson is Telling Harlem’s Story from the Inside

Behind the lens of Red Night Special: Red Rising is Harlem-born and raised filmmaker Andrew “AJ” Jackson — a storyteller who doesn’t just direct his scenes, he lives them. His work is shaped by authenticity, sharp social awareness, and an eye for human drama that reaches far beyond stereotypes. AJ isn’t interested in glamorizing the streets — he’s here to explore the real costs of the hustle.

“I want people to understand what survival looks like when the world doesn’t give you many options,” Jackson says. “Red’s story is about trauma, love, consequence — and the thin line between revenge and redemption.”

A proud member of the Directors Guild of America (DGA), AJ’s journey began from the ground up — literally. Starting as a Production Assistant, he put in years of on-set hustle, learning from some of the industry’s greatest talents on acclaimed productions like Still Alice, Maggie’s Plan, Godfather of Harlem, and Power: Book III: Raising Kanan.

That dedication and experience landed him a prestigious spot as 2nd Assistant Director on the Academy Award-winning film Oppenheimer — a massive milestone that earned him a DGA Award and a seat on a historic team led by visionary director Christopher Nolan.

But instead of basking in Hollywood acclaim, AJ returned to his roots — to tell the stories that matter most to him.

TwoOhNation Films: Where Stories Are Born in Truth, Not in Trends

With his creative company TwoOhNation Films, Jackson has established a powerful brand focused on inclusivity, truth, and cultural relevance. His previous works — including Affliction and Red Night Special: Chapter One — have earned critical praise and top honors at major film festivals, positioning him as a rising voice in independent Black cinema.

Now, with Red Rising, AJ is doubling down on his signature style — cinematic realism meets emotional depth, brought to life with stunning visuals and gripping performances. And Harlem itself isn’t just a backdrop; it’s a character in the story. Every frame pulses with the city’s energy, pain, and pride.

This second chapter in the Red Night series doesn’t just pick up where the first left off — it raises the stakes, expands the universe, and digs even deeper into the psychological and emotional core of its characters.

What to Expect: Suspense, Redemption, and a Final Showdown

Red Rising promises more than just plot twists — it promises a collision of worlds, where no one escapes unchanged. The narrative weaves together themes of trust, betrayal, identity, and justice, offering a complex look at what happens when the hunter becomes the hunted.

As Ciara and Red draw closer to their final confrontation, the film forces the audience to question: Who is really the villain? And what happens when both sides believe they’re right?

Tension builds. The clock ticks. And Harlem holds its breath.
