Philadelphia, PA – While many 12-year-olds are still discovering who they are, Zay Money already knows his purpose—and he’s on a mission to make it count. Hailing from the vibrant streets of Philadelphia, Zay Money is not just another talented kid with a mic. He’s a visionary in the making, a youth leader armed with beats, bars, and an unwavering commitment to change lives.
A rapper, singer, dancer, and speaker, Zay Money is part of a new wave of young artists using their platforms to spark real conversations around youth violence, mental health, and self-empowerment. But what makes Zay different is his deep-rooted authenticity. He doesn’t just speak about the struggle—he lives in the middle of it. And he’s turning his reality into a movement.
Zay is the youngest of 11 siblings in a close-knit family known across the city for their tireless community activism. He’s the son of Rodney and Joanne Hamiel, the dynamic duo behind Shadow Trax Media Arts—a creative arts and social impact organization that’s been empowering youth in Philadelphia for over two decades. With such powerful role models guiding him, Zay has been nurtured by a legacy of purpose, love, and leadership since day one.
“We never had to push Zay into the arts,” says Joanne Hamiel. “It was already in him. He grew up in studios, rallies, and rehearsals. He was always absorbing the energy around him. It was only a matter of time before he started creating his own.”
And create he did. From age 3, Zay was mimicking dance routines, experimenting with melodies, and performing at family and community events. By age 7, he was writing his own rhymes. By 9, he was hitting local stages with a message far deeper than most adults could deliver.
Whether performing at school assemblies, leading youth marches, or lighting up the stage at city-wide fashion and cultural showcases, Zay brings a rare mix of charisma and consciousness. His music doesn’t glorify street life—it offers an alternative. A new path. A new story. One filled with hope, unity, and self-worth.
A Voice for the Voiceless

Zay’s songs address real topics: gun violence, peer pressure, bullying, broken homes, identity struggles, and dreams deferred. Yet even when discussing painful truths, his lyrics are uplifting. His flow is tight, but his message is tighter.
“I know what it’s like to feel like nobody’s listening,” Zay shares. “That’s why I use my music to talk to the kids like me—the ones who feel like their voice doesn’t matter. I want them to know they’re not alone.”
With an impressive list of performances already under his belt—including Stop the Violence rallies, youth summits, anti-bullying campaigns, and more—Zay has become a trusted presence in community youth programs. Educators, parents, and mentors alike applaud him for being a powerful role model that young people can relate to and believe in.
“When Zay steps on a stage, it’s not just a show—it’s a moment,” says one Philadelphia school principal. “He’s speaking truth to power, and the kids hang onto every word. He’s changing lives.”
The Prince of Shadow Trax

Dubbed the “Prince of Shadow Trax,” Zay is carrying the creative torch for the next generation of the Hamiel family. He’s already in the studio developing original tracks that blend hip-hop, soul, and spoken word with messages of resilience, purpose, and peace. Working closely with Shadow Trax Media’s seasoned production team, Zay is preparing to drop a youth-focused music series that will feature collaborations with local artists, youth leaders, and even his older siblings—many of whom are also involved in the arts and community outreach.
But his ambitions don’t stop there.
In addition to music, Zay is also venturing into media and public speaking. He’s currently developing a digital video segment called “Zay Speaks,” where he’ll interview peers, activists, and artists about topics affecting young people in urban communities. He’s also been invited to appear on youth panels and podcasts to share his insights and story.
A Star With a Purpose
Despite his growing popularity, Zay remains humble and focused. He still attends public school, does his chores, and spends time with his large family. His parents make sure he balances artistry with academics, discipline, and service. Every performance, every video shoot, every studio session comes with a reminder: Use your gifts to uplift others.
“Zay is a reflection of what’s possible when community, creativity, and compassion come together,” says Rodney Hamiel. “He’s not just chasing stardom—he’s leading a movement.”
And that movement is only getting started.
In the coming year, Zay Money is set to headline a regional youth tour sponsored by Shadow Trax Media and several community partners. The tour will include school visits, performance workshops, and empowerment sessions aimed at helping young people find their voice through the arts.
Zay is also working with local youth organizations to provide free performances and mentorship opportunities for kids facing high-risk environments. The goal? To help shift the narrative and give kids hope—and tools—to dream bigger.
The Future Is Now
As Philadelphia and cities across the nation search for answers to youth violence, the answer may be closer than we think. It may sound like a beat and rhyme coming from a 12-year-old with big dreams and an even bigger heart.
In a world often defined by what’s going wrong, Zay Money is a powerful reminder of what can go right. He’s not just a rising artist. He’s a messenger, a motivator, and a mirror for a generation ready to rise.
